Notion of Courage

Notion of Courage - Hazy DIPA (ABV: 8.5%)

Courage is the ability to do something that frightens others, and you might need some to dig into one of the biggest IPA’s we have made. Notion of Courage is a collaboration with the movers and shakers at Fidens Brewing Company in Albany, New York. This small brewery has been making a ripple in the hazy field and we became fast friends that led to this beer. 

We used quite a bit of oats and wheat with the Pilsner malt to get the full body in a soft spot to work in tandem with all of the juicy hops we used. Notion of Courage is a skosh under a full DDH treatment, but more than we regularly use for this style.

Our brewers hit this with two early stage dry hops and we also used a new hop variety. Taiheke hops also known as New Zealand Cascade made up half of the dry hop, along with Motueka and Galaxy. Taiheke is best used with Southern Hemi hops to produce bold citrus aromas in this 8.5%abv monster.
