Jammy Pants (Blueberry, Boysenberry, Blackberry)

Jammy Pants (Blueberry, Boysenberry, Blackberry) - Fruited Sour (ABV: 7%)

We have several different iterations of Jammy Pants that use cherry, lime, and even peanut butter cups. The original version that Metro, our Alberta R&D brewer, created featured Blueberries, Boysenberries, and Blackberries. Jammy Pants is on the lighter side of the sour beers we produce, but it boasts a higher amount of fruit puree for a full flavored beer. The recipe uses both oats and wheat, which add to a fuller body and richer mouthfeel in the finished beer. These grains make up a third of the malt bill, with the majority being pale Pilsner malt. We extract all of the sugars during mashing to produce alcohol, but use simpler malts to keep the focus on the fruit. A touch of Loral hops are added to the whirlpool, and nowhere else in the process. The sour yeast strain that ferments this beer is selected by our brewers for its ability to keep off flavors and aromas to a minimum, this once again helps keep all of your attention on the fruit flavors. After fermentation is complete, we add the fruits for their flavors, but also to help balance the acidity of the beer with the sweetness of the berry purees.
