It’s been too long since we have seen Birra Sporgenza, our Italian Pilsner. This stylish lager was inspired by its distant relative Ledgebier, and the clean designs of old Italian road bikes. The Italian Pilsners are a little different, as they are dry hopped with Noble hop varieties instead of modern varieties. Add a few techniques, though, and you can coax some different aromas from hops like Saaz, Tettnanger, and Saphir. “Sporgy”, as we all call it at the end of the work day, is very crisp with assertive bitterness displaying aromas of lemon peel, fresh thyme, and a bit of cedar.
